LABC South West Awards - Winners 2018

This years LABC South West Awards were held on Friday 20 April in Plymouth. The following projects from our area were winners in their categories.

Best Individual New Home

Spindrift View, South Sands, Salcombe - Ease Management, Dolebury Management, Harrison Sutton Partnership and Airey & Coles
Numerous challenges were overcome during construction of this new cliff top house. The final result is a large, luxurious house that is meticulously designed to stand up to the severity of a marine environment.

Best Large Commercial Project

Quayside, Quarry Road, Totnes - Mitchell Architects, Galliford Try Partnership, The Guinness Partnership and Ridge & Partners LLP
Quayside is a 60 bedroom (mixture of 1 bed and 2 bed) assisted living flatted development for people aged over 55. Private balconies and terraces adjoin the living areas, with some providing views over the grounds or inner courtyard, while others have views over the Dart Valley.

Best Change of Use/Conversion

Mortimers Barn, Preston - Stephen and Karen Luscombe, J D Architectural Design and Burton Brothers Building Contractors
Mortimers Barn is a very old building that has been transformed into a beautiful and special family home. It took good teamwork and initiative to overcome the various age related issues on site. Reuse of stonework for minimum waste and retention of character.
